Addenda

The catalog's closing section: Grade 80 alloy chain attachments, webbing slings and fittings, mooring hawsers and thimbles, rope floats, fenders, and the full range of pick-up, cylindrical, light, marker, pillar, and spherical buoys.

Addenda — page 1 of the Dibblee Industries catalog (W.J. Keating, 1940–)
Page 407 — original catalog

The Addenda chapter closes the Dibblee/Keating catalog with the mooring and buoyage range plus the Grade 80 alloy chain attachments introduced after the main chain chapters were set. It covers detachable webbing fittings and webbing slings, mooring hawsers, mooring thimbles, floats and lace-on rope floats for mooring lines, marine fenders, and a complete buoy programme — pick-up buoys, chain-through buoys, cylindrical buoys, light buoys, marker buoys, pillar buoys, and spherical buoys — as supplied to harbour authorities, mooring contractors, and fishing and offshore operators.

Product types

  • Grade 80 alloy chain attachments
  • Detachable webbing fittings and webbing slings
  • Mooring hawsers and mooring thimbles
  • Floats and lace-on floats for mooring ropes
  • Marine fenders
  • Buoys: pick-up, chain-through, cylindrical, light, marker, pillar, spherical

Typical applications

  • Harbour and offshore mooring systems
  • Channel marking and buoyage
  • Overhead lifting with alloy chain and webbing slings
  • Vessel berthing and fendering

Construction -
8-strand multiplait. Made from high tenacity multifilament ‘ S

Characteristics Sar A
Great strength and durability. Ideally suited to cyclic loading ae a. 4
applications. 4 oul
Specific gravity ie Dea
Temperature resistance 'g r OCU }
At —40°C, Hercules polyester ropes remain flexible and do not \ A |
become brittle. At the other extreme, they have a melting point \ ‘
of 260°C. 4 ar aay’
Ultraviolet resistance M ()
Excellent. A slight deterioration of the outer filaments will occur “4 ian
only after prolonged exposure to fierce sunlight. ~ ' }
Flexibility As
The handling characteristics of Hercules ropes are very good. p 7 1
Because the fibres will not absorb water, the ropes remain ‘
flexible in both wet and dry conditions. ,
Stretch and recovery OM
Hercules ropes have a breaking stretch of around 34% f a! a
on first loading, falling to 24% after repeated loading. Again, > : hy |
performance is unaffected by wetting. Fo
Chemical resistance i 4
Excellent. ; ii \
Decay resistance ‘ ‘ ps
Hercules polyester ropes are guaranteed not to rot. On recent ri ,
independent tests polyester yarns were shown to have nq Ps \
a higher resistance to yarn-on-yarn abrasion than nylon, ‘ alt
though both are adversely affected by seawater immersion % ip! La

Characteristics: Resinex fenders
are entirely made of extremely
elastic expanded PVC, provided,
in turn, with a thick, nylon ply
reinforced, polyurethane outside
protective cover. This cover has
abrasion and breaking
resistance properties beyond
compare with those of rubber
generally used for such
' purpose, which makes for long
, life-time even under strong
heavy-duty conditions.
The high elasticity of the
expanded PVC itself ensures
high energy absorption with low
reaction force, which is
essential to eliminate the risk of
damage.

LIGHTWEIGHT PILAR
SHAPE BUOYS
LIGHTWEIGHT (LIGHTED)
The Floatex pilar shape buoys
have been designed to meet
that range of applications
calling for lightweight and easy
installation marker buoys.
1) Galvanized steel core and
polyethylene flotatation with
high molecular weight to ensure
safety and lightweight;
2) focal plane from 1 to 4 mt,
Y radar reflector and option
between three types of lantern
to meet whatever signalling
requirements,
3) buoyancy adaptability
according to specification and
needs;
make this type of buoy unique
of its kind and so the best
possible answer to whatever
signalling problem.

LIGHTWEIGHT PILAR
SHAPE BUOYS
(UNLIGHTED)
Where no light is required are,
usually, needed marker buoys of
great visibility (vivid colours,
radar reflector and reflecting
strips).
Floatex pilar shape buoys add
to all these features their
lightweight and high resistance
properties.
Easy handling and perfect
installation possibilities have
made them successful wherever
in operation so far.
